These Puy lentils were made after watching Laura Calder's "French Cooking at Home" on the Food Network (Canada). They may not look all that wonderful but trust me, the taste is fabulous.

Calder suggested drizzling the lentils with walnut oil. We didn't have any walnut oil so used roasted hazelnut oil instead.

We served the lentils with beets, broccoli. I made a slight error and decided to add a bit of cream to the beets. The taste was fine. But I must admit that they really do look pretty dreadful.

A rye loaf in the shape of occhi di Santa Lucia was the perfect accompaniment for these lentils.
