You should gather them up and do an installation at the museum. "Spammer Poetry". Good idea! Maybe I can get a Canada Council Grant to pay for my felt pens and plaster board. Wouldn't it be fun to see haiku spam: Thanks for the support Amusing information It is obvious. Excellent notion I...

I'm not moved to rush to the ROM to see this work. Same with the Iain Baxter& one. I'm amazed it's even "art" by David's definition - how do they get away with this. Some of the other ones looked interesting to me. Benoit Aquin, Carlos and Jason Sanchez, Evan Lee. The Governor General...

creative spamming

I have a program installed in Wordpress to separate likely spam comments from the legitimate ones as well as hold all comments in queue until I've seen them. I must say that I get a perverse pleasure out of seeing some of the more creative attempts to get a comment to go live. Most of them, of cours...

public facilities in Toronto

Perhaps I'm very old fashioned to expect public washrooms and toilets should be unlocked on weekends in April (not to mention the rest of the months of the year). But no. We have to wait until the May 24th long weekend if we want take pee breaks when enjoying the outdoors. (Do you think the city has...

Dan Perjovschi: artist?

This past Christmas, I was given a subscription to CanadianArt magazine. And I was excited. There are many thumbnails included in the magazine to advertise various exhibits across the country. But the thumbnail for Dan Perjovschi's show at the ROM in Toronto really gave me pause. No... Made me guffa...

Natural Disasters as of March 2010

Natural Disasters and Emergencies as of March 2010 As we listen to the news, it becomes overwhelming. We hear that some of the aftershocks in Chile are the same magnitude as the January earthquake in Haiti. Here are several more reasons to specify "greatest need" when donating to relief o...

I have no idea if this would work but you could try uninstalling Firefox and then reinstalling it (after backing up your bookmarks first). I think the latest version is 3.6. Brrr. That's just asking for trouble. I think it's easier to recustomize my current version of the firefox 3.0 series (3.0.18)

I can't stand change

I recently upgraded AVG and made the mistake of installing the stupid Yahoo Toolbar. So I uninstalled AVG and reinstalled it without the Yahoo Toolbar addition. Immediately afterwards, the location bar on firefox suddenly stopped working. I would begin to type a URL, expecting it to auto-complete. N...

I confess that I have been watching some of the winter olympics. I can't help myself. Unless it's hockey. Or curling*. Or ice dancing. Then it's easy to turn off the TV and walk away. Here in Toronto, we're lucky that we can watch both the Canadian and the American coverage. The American coverage is...

Hmm, that's an interesting idea, MrsBrown. I'm not sure that the sticker will go with all of my dishwashing outfits. BUT, the idea does make me realize that I should be demanding twice as much in wages if I do the dish-washing during peak hours. :jump: Do you have the option to purchase your electri...

re: Ontario Government's "Power. Smarter." program

We just got a notice in the mail telling us that we are now on "time-of-use" rates for electricity. Along with this notice is a quick guide and two sticky decals to attach to our dishwasher and clothes dryer with hints about when it is best to run them. Hellooooooooooo!!! We DON'T have a d...

What happens if the tank is full and the number is unacceptable? Do you start to fill someone else's gastank? Or get out the siphon? Eewwwwwww!! That puts a whole new light on the phrase "I must have eaten the wrong thing for dinner; I have gas". * Why does "siphon" look like it...

re: Winter Olympics 2010

I saw this headline on "USA Today" in my "top news stories" on Google news. Eye-opener: With Vonn down is interest in Games gone? This is top news?! I had to look at the article to find out who or what "Vonn" was. Surely it wasn't "Victorian order of northern nurse...

Re: Definitions and Connotations

Frisbeetarianism is a common word? Isn't that the sect of Freemasons, Unitarians and Presbyterians that branched off on their own? I think their bishops wear berets instead of mitres. And I believe the Frisbeetarians usually hold their services outdoors in large fields. They're quite devout and sma...
